Goal not enough for Field

SAM Field insists he’d rather have all three points than his first goal for the Baggies.

The 19-year-old Academy product netted his maiden strike to give Albion a two-goal lead at The Hawthorns but Newcastle fought back to level seven minutes from time.

And Field, who has impressed in each of the Club’s last two fixtures, says he’s ‘bitterly disappointed’ his goal wasn’t enough to secure a victory.

“I just wandered to the back post, the defender got underneath it, so all I had to do was put it away,” said Field.

“Luckily it went in because in training that could’ve gone absolutely anywhere.

“I think you saw in my celebration that I didn’t know what to do - I was quite surprised myself!

“I’m delighted I scored but it’s mixed emotions that we haven’t won the game.

“A 2-0 lead like that, I don’t think anyone should slip up like that, so it’s bitterly disappointing.

“It was a good performance again and there’s something build on from these last two games.”
