Blackburn Rovers PL2 2 Albion PL2 2

ALBION’s PL2 side played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers on a bitterly cold evening in Lancashire.

Rovers enjoyed plenty of early possession and went close through Lewis Mansell and Will Tomlinson, who both saw efforts go just wide.

Eight minutes before the break Albion took the lead, though, as substitute Nick Clayton-Phillips finished fantastically into the bottom left corner.

After half time it took Blackburn just a couple of minutes to equalise when Kyle Howkins directed Tomlinson’s cross into his own net.

The Baggies then went back in front on 62 minutes as Zak Brown let fly from outside the box, and his shot flew through a crowd of players and past goalkeeper Andrew Fisher.

With 10 minutes to go Rovers were awarded a penalty for a handball in the area, and Lewis Hardcastle made no mistake in cooly converting it.

Blackburn could have stolen all three points in stoppage time when Tomlinson hit the post, but Albion held on to claim an encouraging draw.

ALBION: Palmer, Howkins, Hunt, Jameson, Ferguson, Melbourne (Wilding 80); Brown, Azaz (Soleman 82); Tulloch (Clayton-Phillips 27), Morton, Campbell.

Substitues: House, Pierce.
