Pulis offers update on trio’s fitness

Baggies heading to the Etihad on Tuesday

TONY Pulis confirmed Matt Phillips will miss Albion’s trip to Manchester City on Tuesday night (ko 8pm).

The winger is still suffering with the hamstring injury he picked up in training in the week leading up to the Leicester City fixture on Saturday, April 29.

The head coach also stated that Gareth McAuley is likely to miss the match against Pep Guardiola’s men.

The centre-back was forced off the pitch through injury in the second half of Friday night’s defeat at home to Chelsea.

A last-minute decision, meanwhile, will be made on the availability of forward Hal Robson-Kanu (hamstring).

“Matty won’t be fit,” said Pulis.

“I don’t think Gareth will be fit for the trip to Manchester City because of the injury he picked up against Chelsea.

“We are hoping that he will be fine for the game at Swansea on Sunday.

“We will have to wait and see with Hal and make a last-minute decision.

“We are heading to Manchester City, who are one of the best sides in the league, off the back of playing the best team in the league on Friday night.

“We know that it’s going to be very tough physically.”
