Paul Glover named Fans' Champion

Foundation Disability Development Manager given match ball honour

IN November 2016, John Hooper was at the Portway Leisure Centre in Oldbury participating in a Handball session as part of an Albion Foundation lead scheme when he collapsed and suffered a Cardiac Arrest.

Paul Glover, Disability Development Manager at The Albion Foundation was on hand and performed CPR until the ambulance arrived.

Just over a week later John was fitted with a pacemaker and discharged from hospital the next day. He has no brain damage or long term side effects.

Richard, John’s son, nominated Paul as Fans' Champion and said, “due to Paul's quick thinking and actions he saved my Dad’s life, his 'duty of care' has gone above and beyond and I'm so glad he's being recognised for what he did. He couldn't have done anything more. He's a life saver”.

In addition to being a massive Albion fan, Paul is a long serving member of staff at The Albion Foundation and is very well respected for the work he has done within the disability department.

Watch the moment below when Richard surprised Paul with the news he was going to be Fans’ Champion.
