Phillips to miss Scotland double-header

Albion wide man recovering from hamstring strain

MATT Phillips has been withdrawn from Scotland's squad for their forthcoming international double-header.

The winger, who has been in impressive form this season, has missed Albion's last four Premier League matches with a hamstring strain.

And his ongoing recovery for full fitness means he will now play no part in Scotland's friendly against Canada on Wednesday and crucial World Cup qualifier versus Slovenia on Sunday.

Phillips was recalled into Gordon Strachan's squad for the first time since last summer's friendlies against Italy and France.

Albion team-mates Darren Fletcher and James Morrison, who was also ruled out of Saturday's 3-1 victory over Arsenal with an ankle complaint, remain in the Scotland squad.
