Role: Sports Performance Coach (Psychologist) 

Term: One-year fixed contract 

Salary: Dependant on experience 

Hours: Minimum of 162.5 hours per month 

West Bromwich Albion FC are looking to appoint a Sports Performance Coach to deliver their already established Psychology Programme which has now been in place for a number of years. The role requires somebody from a Sports Psychology background to deliver programmes to players, parents and staff across the three phases, Foundation (9-11), Youth Development Phase (12-16) and Professional Development Phase (17-21). The successful candidate will need to ensure that the programme continues to be integrated into the football based coaching programme but also ensure there is a bespoke programme for players, parents and staff. Delivering Individual Psychology Programmes to the full time players will be a key component to the role.

The role will be based at two venues our First Team Training Ground in Great Barr with the Professional Development Phase and our Academy Building, Halfords Lane, West Bromwich with the Foundation and Youth Development Phase. The successful applicant is expected to be computer literate. They will be expected to manage and provide information for our Performance Management Application and to maintain and update the Players Performance Clock. An understanding of the requirements of the EPPP would be beneficial. 

You will be expected to provide support and assistance when necessary to other departments in the Academy and having a dedicated and flexible approach is also a requirement of the role. 

The successful candidate will be expected to devote themselves to their continuous professional development and to commit to a personal development plan. 

Perspective Candidates will require a minimum of a BSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. 

Applicants will be subject to meeting all the requirements of our Children’s Safeguarding Policy and a DBS Check. They must also meet the Right to Work criteria as set by the Home Office and hold a valid driving licence.

Successful Applicants will need: 

BSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology 

MSc in Sport Psychology 

Computer Literacy 

Valid Driving Licence 

Excellent Communication, Organisation and Management skills. 

 

Desirable Requirements: 

Working towards Stage 2, BPS Accreditation (HCPC registration) 

 

Coaching Qualifications as listed below: 

UEFA B 

FA YOUTH AWARD (Modules 1,2,3) 

Previous Experience of delivering Psychology Programmes in Elite Sport (although not essential.)
