APNA Albion to meet at The Hawthorns

APNA Albion, the new fans group targeted for the region’s Punjabi community, plan to take another step on the road to an official formation next week.

Club officials and the volunteer fans group who have driven the Apna Albion initiative are holding an open forum and Q and A at The Hawthorns on Tuesday, June 27 (6.45pm-9pm).

The meeting will be open to all and the Baggies are hoping to hear from those supporters who registered an interest in joining Apna Albion at its launch point earlier in the summer.

Since then Apna Albion have announced themselves across the digital landscape by launching pages on Twitter (@apnaalbion), Facebook (Apna Albion) and Instagram (@apnaalbion) and Tuesday’s meeting is just one more step along the road to recognition.

“Apna” volunteer and Albion season ticket holder Steve Ghuman has been a key figure in building the momentum and says: “This will help us take a ‘pulse check’ in the interest we have generated so far.

“We want to attract more Punjabi supporters through the turnstiles – and we want them to have fun and enjoy the experience. Maybe there are many out there who wanted to come but were a bit apprehensive for whatever reason – we can show them this is a great experience.”

On Tuesday, a ‘meet and greet’ will begin at 6.45pm before Chief Executive Martin Goodman welcomes visitors and joins a Q and A with Apna volunteers and club officials.

But it is also planned for the Apna Albion steering group to then drive the discussion towards a selection of committee members and core objectives as well as establishing key actions for advancing the project.

“As we know, we have a definite ambition to give something back to the community – and not just the Sikh-Punjabi community but any who may be in need of help or are suffering a difficult time,” added Steve.

“That’s what being part of a community is all about after all.”

So next Tuesday at The Hawthorns – 6.45pm in the Pennington Suite. It’s your chance to get in on the ground floor of a new movement which will spread the Baggies name further.

We will see you there!
