TONY Pulis has today issued an update on the fitness of a cluster of first-team stars ahead of Albion's final pre-season friendlies against Port Vale and Deportivo La Coruna.
The Baggies travel to Vale Park on Tuesday with a trip to Spain following on Saturday. And Pulis is relieved to report that injuries sustained by Chris Brunt and James McClean are not as serious as first feared.
Brunt was substituted in the first half of Albion's 2-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers on Saturday with a minor calf issue, while McClean was taken off in the second period with subsequent scans revealing a bruised bone in the midfielder's knee. Neither will be risked for the clash with the Valiants and will be assessed for the Baggies' trip to the Estadio Riazor at the weekend.
Matt Phillips reported a tight hamstring during the warm-up at the Memorial Stadium and will be assessed for Albion's final friendly fixtures ahead of the start of the new Premier League season and AFC Bournemouth's visit The Hawthorns on Saturday, August 12.
Jake Livermore reported a sore knee against Rovers and could be rested for the Port Vale test.
