Nyom on ‘very important’ Rodriguez

ALLAN Nyom has tipped Jay Rodriguez to become a “very important” player for the Baggies this season.

The forward, who signed from Southampton in July, scored for the first time in Albion colours in the win at Accrington Stanley last Tuesday night, before heading home his first goal at The Hawthorns during the 1-1 Premier League draw with Stoke City on Sunday lunchtime.

Nyom has been impressed with Rodriguez’s performances and believes he will be an influential figure in the side throughout the campaign.

He said: “Jay is a very clever player.

“He’s a fantastic footballer who has good technical ability and good movement.

“He’s been very good for us so far and I hope he can carry on like this.

“Jay is going to be a very important player for us this season.”

The No.2 praised his team-mates following the solid start to the season, but also encouraged them to stay focused.

“We are happy.

“Seven points from three games is good.

“It’s a very good foundation but we have to carry on.

“Every team in the Premier League is strong.

“You have to try and pick up points from every game you play in.

“The next game is going to be tough like every game and we have to be ready.”
