Foster: Home form is crucial

BEN Foster has highlighted the importance of home form as Albion prepare to get their 2017/18 Premier League season underway against AFC Bournemouth at The Hawthorns.

The Cherries are in town on Saturday, August 12 (ko 3pm) and 'Fozzy' says the Baggies should aim to repeat last campaign's excellent home form which saw them pick up ten wins at The Hawthorns.

"As long as we carry on the way we've been going then I'm sure we'll be fine. The home form in the middle part of last season was fantastic and we need to try and replicate it this season.

"Even towards the end of the season, where the results weren't great, we were playing well in matches. We just weren't getting the lucky breaks."

And the Baggies stopper also indicated how important it can be to get off to a winning start in the Premier League.

"Last season was brilliant - going away from home and getting the three points. It really sets you off and we need to do a similar thing this season.

"I think the fixtures have been fairly kind to us so it's somewhere we can hopefully look to pick up points and get a good start."

And in terms of any personal targets, Ben wants more of the same after his injury-free 2016/17 campaign.

"Last season was the first time I managed to play every minute of every game so replicating that will be a bonus for me.

"For the team the aim will be to build on last season's success. Finishing in the top half of this league is a really tough ask so if we can better that this year it will be a good season."
