Dawson: I'm enjoying my football

CRAIG Dawson says he's 'enjoying his football' after committing his future to the Baggies earlier this week.

Alongside summer signing Ahmed Hegazi, 'Daws' has contributed to two clean sheets in two Premier League games. And he said getting a chance to play at centre half is one of the reasons he's feeling so good about the coming season.

"We've started well with two clean sheets and I'm really enjoying my football at the moment.

"I've played a lot of games at right back and have developed my game. But now I'm playing centre half and hopefully I can keep improving and keep doing well.

"Hopefully we can continue our good form against Stoke on Sunday."

After putting pen to paper on a deal that keeps him at The Hawthorns until 2020, the 27-year-old knows he's come a long way from being a glass collector in Rochdale.

"It's a million miles way from where I started," Craig smiled.

"There's been a lot of hard work and sacrifices to get where I am today.

"I'm lucky to be playing at the level that I am."

And Daws said it's his friends from those times in Rochdale who stop him from getting carried away.

"I've so many friends at home who text me every time I play.

"But it's them who keep me grounded."
