'Blind Dave' set for silver screen

‘BLIND DAVE’ Heeley needs the help of The Hawthorns at Saturday’s Premier League opener to create a fitting finale for a new film about his life.

The amazing endurance athlete and devoted Albion fan was awarded the ‘Freedom of The Hawthorns’ this year as the Club recognised his extraordinary contribution to fund-raising projects on the 25th anniversary of his favourite beneficiary, the Albion Foundation.

At half-time on Saturday, one of his biggest admirers and fellow Baggies legend Darren Moore will be re-enacting the presentation of his special golden key to give supporters the chance to show their appreciation of his amazing efforts.

And all of it will be captured by independent film-makers as a closing shot for a 30-minute short film being made about his Blind Dave’s life.

The film called “7 Days” will tell the story of how Blind Dave ran around the globe beginning with a flash back to when he lost his sight and began his battle to cope began.

It will be out next April to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dave's astonishing feat of running seven marathons in seven days across seven different continents.

The movie is being made by Pixel Revolution Films and producer Nigel Davey says: “Dave’s story is remarkable and inspirational and we can think of no better place to finish it than with the man himself at the place he loves best.

“The film we be a dramatization of his story with an actor playing Dave but we think for the final shot, we need the man himself at The Hawthorns.”
