Defender edges Seagulls towards the Premier League
SEBASTIEN Pocognoli scored a brilliant free-kick to push Brighton to within touching distance of the Premier League for the first time in their history.
The Belgian defender curled the ball into the top corner from 25-yards on Friday night as the Seagulls secured a crucial 2-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road.
The result moves Brighton, who lead the division, 12 points clear of Huddersfield in third with five games to go.
Elsewhere in the Championship Callum McManaman missed Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Newcastle.
Young striker Tyler Roberts missed Shrewsbury Town’s 1-0 victory against Rochdale in League One through injury.
In League Two Tahvon Campbell came off the bench inside the last 10 minutes for Notts County who were trailing 1-0 away at high-flying Carlisle. The Magpies came back to win the game 2-1 thanks to two late goals.
Kyle Howkins was an unused substitute for Mansfield Town as they lost 1-0 away at league leaders Doncaster Rovers.
