LOAN WATCH: Pocognoli on promotion trail

Brighton move nine points clear of Huddersfield

SEBASTIEN Pocognoli's Brighton and Hove Albion side moved within a whisker of promotion to the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at the AMEX Stadium. The Belgian played the full 90 minutes as Glenn Murray's strike gave the Seagulls a vital victory in the Sky Bet Championship.

But there was disappointment for Callum McManaman who played 73 minutes of Sheffield Wednesday's draw away to Barnsley. The Owls conceded an injury-time equaliser and are now one point and one place outside the playoff positions.

Tyler Roberts' Shrewsbury Town side dropped into the League One relegation zone after a 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers. The young striker played 45 minutes.

Kyle Howkins played the final half an hour of Mansfield Town's 2-1 defeat at home to Exeter City. Former Baggie Reuben Reid scored a 97th minute penalty to condemn the Stags to a third defeat in five games.

In the Vanarama National League, Shaun Donnellan played just over 20 minutes of Dagenham and Redbridge's 4-0 win over Eastleigh.

Ethan Ross, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Worcester City in the National League as they were beaten 1-0 by Telford.
