Jack Withers named Fans' Champion

Brave youngster given match ball honour

BRAVE youngster Jack Withers has been named as Fans' Champion for the Baggies' clash with Liverpool at The Hawthorns on Sunday (ko 1.30pm).

In September 2015 Jack became seriously ill with a life threatening condition called Aplastic Anemia - Bone Marrow Failure. The next six months were extremely difficult and meant a tough battle for his life.

Jack was admitted to hospital in December 2015 for seven days of intensive chemotherapy before having a full bone marrow transplant in order for him to survive in January 2016. Jack had to stay in isolation to lower the risk of catching any infection to ensure surgery could go ahead.

He was extremely ill throughout but was eventually allowed home after 11 weeks in hospital. Although Jack has regular check-ups at the hospital, he has made a great recovery and is grateful to be back at school and leading a healthy life.

Albion supported Jack last year by donating a signed ball as his family raised funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where Jack received such magnificent treatment.

The 11-year-old has shown tremendous courage and the Club are delighted he will have the honour of delivering the match ball to the Premier League plinth ahead of kick off.
