Popular fundraiser given match ball honour
DEBBIE Green has been named as the Fans' Champion for the Baggies' clash with Southampton at The Hawthorns on Saturday (ko 3pm).
Debbie is a hugely passionate Baggies fan attending all matches home and away and will have the honour of delivering the match ball to the Premier League plinth ahead of kick off.
Whilst Debbie is very popular on the terraces she is also known as a prolific fundraiser and has been instrumental in supporting tributes to Jeff Astle and raised over £5,000 to support Chris Brunt’s chosen charities by throwing coins into a bucket.
When Albion took on Sunderland in January, Debbie arranged bucket collections and setup a just Giving page for Bradley Lowery, 5, who is terminally ill - as well as buy a banner in his name which was raised in Millennium Corner in the fifth minute. Debbie has since gone onto arrange a charity match for him which will take place in the summer.
It was at the Sunderland game that Debbie saw another fantastic cause as Tommy Brown, 5, who had multiple amputations due to Meningitis was our fan’s champion for the game. She setup a Just Giving page to raise £2,000 for Tommy after raising £300 by auctioning Albion's Jonny Evans shirt.
Debbie has arranged a charity night for Tommy in April which will be attended by current and former Albion players.
With the tremendous fundraising efforts, huge acts of kindness and fanatical support, Debbie Green is a very worthy Fans' Champion.
