On-loan Accrington man played for Albion v Brighton
JAMES Shan was delighted to see Callam Jones make such a positive impact for Albion in the 1-0 win over Brighton on Monday night in the Premier League 2.
Jones, who is currently on loan at Accrington Stanley, returned to his parent club in order to get 90 minutes under his belt having not featured regularly so far for the League Two outfit.
And the young defender made quite an impression, scoring a brilliant solo goal in the 19th minute which was enough to hand the Baggies all three points at The Hawthorns.
Jones, most comfortable at right-back or centre-back, slotted in at left-back for the clash with the Seagulls but Shan was pleased with his display and said the most important thing was getting him as many minutes as possible.
“Callam has been up at Accrington and unfortunately hasn’t managed to get a great degree of game time,” said Shan.
“Darren Moore spoke to their manager and asked if we could get him down for a game.
“The most important thing for Callam was to get 90 minutes under his belt.
“He would be a stronger right-back or right-sided centre-half, but just for the dynamics of the team I asked him to play left-back and get some game time in.
“There was a little bit of rustiness in there at times which I am sure he would have expected himself anyway.
“The level and quality of his finish for the goal was sublime.
“I’m delighted for him to come back and make his mark on the game.”
