Winger reflects on narrow defeat at the Vitality Stadium
MATT Phillips was left frustrated by the manner of Albion’s 1-0 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies, who were second best in the first-half, created some excellent chances after the restart but they were unable to break the deadlock and fell to a late Callum Wilson strike at the Vitality Stadium.
The winger believed one goal would be enough to seal three points on the south coast and was disappointed to see the hosts grab the winner.
“I think it was a game where whoever got the first goal would go on to clinch it,” said Phillips.
“It was really disappointing to concede late on.
“It was frustrating because I thought we created some very good opportunities in the second-half and then they went and scored when we were on top.
“It did take us a while to get going and we know we weren’t at our best in the first-half.
“We came out firing in the second-half but unfortunately couldn’t find a way through.
“We created some good opportunities and that’s something we can take into the next game.”
