James Morrison features as Albion beat Brighton

Callam Jones on target for the Baggies at The Hawthorns

JAMES Morrison played 90 minutes in his search for match fitness as Albion beat Brighton 1-0 at The Hawthorns in the Premier League 2.

Mohamed Sissoko also completed the full game, with fellow trialist Marouane Chamakh playing 63 minutes in a side that included Jonathan Leko and Kane Wilson.

Albion were dominant throughout, playing clever, incisive football, and deservedly took the lead in the 19th minute through Callam Jones.

The full back collected the ball on the left-hand side and drove across the edge of the box before firing past Robert Lynch-Sanchez in the Brighton goal.

The visitors were restricted to long-range efforts, with Alex Palmer saving comfortably from a Jesse Starkey strike early in the first half.

Morrison twice came close to extending Albion’s lead in a quiet second period, with Tyler Roberts denied by good defending after he was slipped through by the Scotland midfielder.

Brighton would have snatched a late equaliser but for a smart save from Palmer after Jack Harper was sent clear.

But Albion hung on in what was a comfortable evening.
