Olsson offers views on Anfield loss

Defender happy to feature against Reds

BAGGIES defender Jonas Olsson believes Saturday evening’s 2-1 defeat at Anfield was at the hands of “one of the best sides in the league”.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho helped Liverpool rise to joint top of the Premier League table ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.

Albion were second best before the break and went in at half time 2-0 down, however, Pulis’ team delivered a spirited performance after the restart and grabbed a late consolation when Gareth McAuley thumped home his third goal of the season in all competitions.

Olsson, who was making his first start since late August, felt things might have been different if the Baggies had scored earlier than the 81st minute.

He said: “It was tough in the first half and we didn’t have much of the ball.

“There were no breaks for us. We didn’t have many free-kicks or corners and Liverpool move the ball so quickly.

“They had a lot of the ball but I don’t think they created too many clear chances.

“The two goals were more or less errors on our part unfortunately.

“Liverpool are one of the best sides in the league and they will punish you.

“We said at half time that if we could get the next goal we might make them and the crowd a little nervy and that’s what happened.

“If we had scored our goal earlier we maybe would’ve had a chance to get a point from the game.

“It wasn’t to be.

“We lost to a very good side and that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
