McAuley: “They have that swagger about them”

Defender offers thoughts on strikers

ALBION attacking duo Salomon Rondon and Nacer Chadli possess “swagger” and “something different” through the eyes of Gareth McAuley.

Both forwards have enjoyed purple patches since linking-up at the top end of the pitch for the Baggies following Chadli’s arrival from Spurs in August.

The Belgium international has scored three times and created two goals in four Albion appearances, while his partner Rondon has found the back of the net twice during that time, with his strike against West Ham United coming as a result of a pass from Chadli.

The pair’s form and influence on recent matches has seen the Baggies take five points from three games, scoring six times, and McAuley is hoping for more of the same when the Premier League returns after the October international break.

He said: “They are both quality players.

“They have that swagger about them.

“That little bit of something different.

“They are linking-up well and both have goals in them.

“Hopefully that is going to bear fruit for us in the coming games.

“We played some half-decent stuff in the first half at Sunderland, got Chadli on the ball and that is what we want to do, get him on the ball so he can create things.

“Salomon was a little frustrated against Sunderland but they both worked extremely hard.

“The quality was there, we just didn’t kill it off when we had the chances.”
