INTERNATIONALS: McClean stars in Ireland win

Nyom and Robson-Kanu also in action

JAMES McClean scored twice as Ireland beat Moldova 3-1 in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday evening.

The Baggies winger hit a second-half brace to give Martin O'Neill's side a welcome, away victory in Group D.

Shane Long had given the visitors an early lead before Igor Bugaev equalised in first-half injury time.

And as the game seemed to be heading for a draw, McClean spared Irish blushes with two cool finishes in the penalty area.

Also in Group D, Hal Robson-Kanu played just over half an hour as Wales drew 1-1 with Georgia in Cardiff.

Gareth Bale's header was cancelled out by Tornike Okriashvili as Chris Coleman's side dropped to third in the table.

Allan Nyom, meanwhile, played 90 minutes for Cameroon in their impressive 1-1 draw in Algeria.

El Aradi Soudani opened the scoring for Algeria in the 7th minute, but Benjamin Moukandjo hit back to ensure Cameroon avoided defeat in the opening game of their World Cup qualifying campaign.
