Albion defeat Rovers at Aggborough

Roberts spot-kick enough for Baggies

ALBION earned a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in their Premier League 2 fixture at Aggborough.

The Baggies were gifted an early lead just four minutes into the game when Rovers keeper Andrew Fisher brought down Tyler Roberts inside the area.

The young striker dusted himself down to send Fisher the wrong way from the spot.

The referee waved away appeals for a second Albion penalty on 18 minutes when Baggies trialist Ferdinand Tayki went down under pressure from Scott Wharton.

Willem Tomlinson struck over from the edge of the area on 41 as the visitors had their first shot of what was a quiet first half.

Both sides huffed and puffed their way through the second period but goalscoring opportunities were at a premium due to resilient defensive displays.

James Shan’s side, who now have 15 points from their eight games, head to West Ham United next Monday.
