SUPERB Albion put on a sparkling show to brush aside Burnley 4-0 in a dominant display at The Hawthorns.

Early goals from Matt Phillips and James Morrison - both on the scoresheet in the win at Leicester last time out - gave the Baggies a 2-0 lead inside the opening 16 minutes, before fellow Scot Darren Fletcher added a third before the break.

The captain's first goal of the season was added to after the restart by Salomon Rondon, his fourth of the campaign, as Albion claimed three fully deserved points to move up to ninth place in the Premier League table.

The scoreline was a repeat of the last time the two sides met here in September 2014 and ensured Tony Pulis' side moved on to 16 points from 12 games.

Albion flew out of the blocks and got off to a dream start - Phillips capitalising on a mistake from Dean Marney inside the penalty area to turn and drill a well-taken effort past Tom Heaton from close range.

Jeff Hendrick wasted a decent opening for the Clarets before the Baggies doubled their advantage on the counter-attack, Chris Brunt sending a superb pass to Rondon, who in turn laid off to Morrison and he surged forward before beating Heaton from 20 yards.

The Baggies were firing on all cylinders and both Morrison and Rondon, twice, enjoyed opportunities to further strengthen the home side's lead.

Fletcher did just that before the interval as he converted Phillips' looping cross at the back post.

Rondon got the goal his powerful display deserved just after the hour mark as he turned and beat Heaton, via a deflection, from inside the penalty area.

Ben Foster tipped Gudmundson's free-kick over the crossbar but it was Albion who wrapped up a memorable evening and will look to further their two-match winning run away at Hull City on Saturday.
