Tyler Roberts has his say on Jonathan Leko
TALENTED teenager Tyler Roberts admits he and good friend Jonathan Leko are extremely proud of each other’s recent achievements.
The closing few weeks of the Barclays Premier League season saw both youngsters make their top-flight debuts for Albion.
Leko started the final three games of the campaign before making way for the Wales Under-17 international on the final day against Liverpool, with Roberts appearing off the bench in the 72nd minute to make his first senior appearance for the club.
Roberts insists seeing a fellow Academy graduate handed opportunities by head coach Tony Pulis proved to be his inspiration.
He said: “We are both really proud of each other.
“Even though I hadn’t got on the pitch before Sunday, Leko has still been making me work harder and he’s been pushing me on.
“We do it for each other, to be honest.
“When he played against West Ham I was just thinking how amazing that was.
“Tony Pulis is trusting the youngsters and Jonathan is showing that he can do it.
“I was really happy for him to get his first assist in the Premier League.”
Roberts added: “It was a good feeling to make my debut, I have been working for that for my whole life.
“To finally get on the pitch and be able to say that I have made my Premier League debut, I can’t really describe it to be honest.
“I just have to keep working harder and hope that I can get into the team more.”
