Pulis: We deserved more than a point

Pulis disappointed with draw but applauds hard-working Baggies

TONY Pulis felt his Albion side deserved to come away from AFC Bournemouth with greater reward to show for their hard-working performance.

Salomon Rondon headed home his eighth Barclays Premier League goal of the campaign before Craig Gardner saw his penalty saved just before half-time.

And the Baggies paid the ultimate price when Cherries substitute Matt Ritchie headed home an 82nd-minute equaliser.

Albion almost snatched all three points at the close but Craig Dawson saw his effort come back off a post, ensuring the spoils the shared in a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Pulis on the match...
"We're disappointed, obviously, the players have worked so hard today.
"Bournemouth played the way they play, they didn't really cause us many problems. We're a little bit disappointed with one or two decisions.
"Harry Arter really should have been booked first half for pushing McAuley, then there's a blatant handball which he also doesn't get booked for, and the challenge on Fletcher is a straight red.
"The lads are also saying their goalkeeper was off the line for our penalty, I haven't seen it, but Gards should still score. He's really, really disappointed in there.
"We've had five penalties this season and missed four. We should blame ourselves for that, nobody else.
"The attitude of the players, the way we played, it just didn't run for us in the final third. And then Dawson hitting the post, Saido with a great chance at the end.
"To come to Bournemouth and play like we did in boiling hot conditions against a good footballing team, who scored from a long throw-in, was very reassuring in lots of ways.
"We deserved to win the game."

On Albion's spurned spot-kick opportunity...
"We needed that second goal but you can't deny the commitment of the players, their attitude was absolutely fantastic.
"If it goes to 2-0 I think we go on to comfortably win the game."

On Bournemouth's equaliser...
"It came off Yacob. I think someone shouted behind him and he's not heard it and got the touch.
"But the two defenders behind should really be on their toes picking people up and their two players have run inside.
"We're disappointed with the result but not with the performance."
