Pulis hails captain fantastic Fletcher

Skipper praised by Baggies boss

ALBION fans will have to wait until shortly before kick-off against Liverpool to discover the Club’s Player of the Year.

But Head Coach Tony Pulis named his choice during his pre-match media duties.

“Darren Fletcher by a country mile,” says Pulis.

“I don’t think people have made much of the fact that Darren will complete 38 games for the season.

“To play 38 games for us is just fantastic, especially when you remember the serious illness he overcame.

“He’s a fantastic player and leader of the team but he is also a wonderful ambassador off the pitch as well.

“He’s been playing for the last five or six weeks with an injury but he just keeps going. He sets the example that should inspire everyone. He’d be my player of the season by a country mile.”

Supporters will see who they have chosen as the club’s official Player of the Year at pitchside shortly before kick-off on Sunday when legend Tony Brown will also be on hand to present the Player’s Player of the Year.

At the final whistle, the players will also salute the fans with a lap of appreciation at the end of a season which sees the Club becoming the only Premier League outfit in the West Midlands.
