Rondon ready for Mexico showdown

Why is Venezuela's clash with Mexico so important?

SALOMON Rondon will be hoping to maintain his impressive Copa America form as Venezuela prepare to take on Mexico in their final Group C fixture on Tuesday morning (ko 1am BST).

La Vinotinto are already through to the knockout stages having recorded a surprising 1-0 victory over Uruguay on Saturday morning, with the Baggies number nine again on the scoresheet.

However, they take on Mexico knowing that only a win will see them avoid tournament-favourites Argentina in the quarter-finals.

A victory for Venezuela will result in the far less daunting prospect of Chile or Panama - who go head-to-head on Wednesday morning to compete for second place in Group D.

With Group A and B already decided, two quarter-final fixtures are already confirmed - with hosts USA taking on Ecuador, while Peru face Colombia.
