Chester makes winning start with Wales

Albion defender up and running at the Euros

ALBION at the Euros is off to a winning start as James Chester celebrated a victorious opening to his nation's historic campaign.

The Baggies defender played the full 90 minutes as Wales marked their first appearance at a major finals since 1958 with a 2-1 victory in the opening Group B game against Slovakia.

Chester was solid throughout and also at the start of the move which led to the winning goal from Hal Robson-Kanu in the 81st minute after a see-saw contest.

Wales' superstar Gareth Bale had opened the scoring with a trademark free-kick in the first-half but Slovakia hit back after the break to equalise through Ondrej Duda.

Now the Baggies focus switches to the Irish contingent as Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans get ready to take their bow with Northern Ireland and James McClean with the Republic.
