Albion prepare for Devon double-header next up
TONY Pulis has spoken of his disappointment at Albion's trip to Holland concluding early and will now hold an in-house match on Tuesday as the Club's pre-season preparations continue. The Baggies triumphed 2-1 over Vitesse Arnhem last Thursday in the first of two FOX Sports Cup matches, but saw Saturday's fixture against PSV Eindhoven cancelled by local authorities in the Dutch city.
The late decision forced Albion to fly back to the UK 24 hours earlier than originally planned having not played one of their scheduled pre-season friendly work-outs.
A frustrating end to the Holland tour has now left Pulis and his coaching staff finalising details for a behind-closed-doors training match on Tuesday of this week - ahead of the Devon double-header against Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United.
Albion's Head Coach said: "The stadium we were playing at (in Arnhem) and the games we were playing were very competitive, the first game was, and in the second game we were going to give more time to the senior players, so that's disappointing.
"I think the lads were disappointed as well because you set yourself up for those two games in three days.
"And, of course, we're disappointed for the fans who travelled to Holland or planned to go out there for the second game. They really got behind us in the first match against Vitesse.
"For our preparations for the Premier League season, it's happened and you just have to move on and get on with it.
"We'll have an in-house game on Tuesday to get the playing time in. They've worked hard today - two sessions- then a double session on Tuesday, we'll most likely give them Wednesday off and then Thursday and Friday it will be preparation for those two games down in Devon against Plymouth and Torquay."
