Under-21s preparing for Hull clash in Premier League Cup

Place in the quarter-finals up for grabs

ALBION’S Under-21 side will be looking to secure a place in the Barclays U21 Premier League Cup quarter-finals on Monday night.

To reach the last-eight, the Baggies will have to get past Hull City at Tamworth FC’s Lamb Ground (ko 7pm).

James Shan’s men battled their way to a 1-0 victory away at Cardiff in horrendous conditions in the last round, while the Tigers have defeated Sheffield Wednesday and Crewe so far in the competition.

The Under-21 boss is keen to see his side step into the latter stages of the tournament.

“Whenever you enter a cup competition the ultimate goal is always to try and win it,” said Shan.

“We have an opportunity to reach the quarter-finals if we beat Hull, so that should be a huge incentive for the boys.

“We earned a good point against a very good Arsenal side last week, but I wasn’t happy with our overall performance – we can be a lot better.

“I’m looking for an improved display on Monday night.

“Hull will be a difficult test for us as they have already won two games in the tournament, but hopefully we will be able to implement our style and dominate the game.”

Come on you Baggies!
