Youngsters edged out by United in five-goal thriller

Marcus Forss scores again for Under-18 side

ALBION’s youngsters suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Manchester United in a thrilling U18 Premier League clash on Saturday.

United went ahead from the penalty spot inside the opening ten minutes, however, a clever finish from Finland youth international Marcus Forss brought the scores level shortly after.

The Baggies took the lead in the 28th minute when fine work from Nick Clayton-Phillips resulted in an own goal for one of the opposition defenders.

But just three minutes later the Red Devils grabbed an equaliser, and the visitors then had a fantastic opportunity to go into the break with the lead when they were awarded a second penalty. However, this time, the crossbar came to Jasko Keranovic’s rescue.

Jamie Smith’s men couldn’t keep their opponents out in the second period and a stunning strike from distance earned the points for United.
