Baggies midfielder on shortlist for Premier League award
AFTER bagging two goals and three assists in his last three games, Matt Phillips has been nominated for the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award for November.
And the Albion midfielder is in esteemed company, joining Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pedro and Jordan Pickford on the shortlist. Cast your vote here.
But despite taking great confidence from his performances, the Albion midfielder stated that any praise he receives should be shared with his team-mates.
"Confidence is a massive part of my game.
"When you come to a new club you want to impress from the very beginning. I probably put a bit too much of that pressure on myself and it may have been hindering me a little.
"I've hit some good form but I'm still going to be working hard.
"Hopefully there's more to come."
Phillips scored and assisted goals against Leicester City and Burnley, and delivered the corner for Gareth McAuley's opener against Hull City last weekend.
And the Scotland international highlighted Albion's potency from dead-ball situations.
"We're a massive threat from set pieces. It's my job to put the ball on the money and in an area where the lads can attack it.
"We had a tough period but then some games came along where we knew we could take some points."
LENDING A HAND: Phillips and McAuley celebrate at the KCOM Stadium
Ahead of the clash with Watford at The Hawthorns on Saturday, Phillips wants the Baggies to keep up their good run of form.
"We'll look at Saturday first and foremost and carry on taking each game as it comes. We want to keep doing what we've been doing and pick up as many points as possible."
"We've got to go out, play our game and impose ourselves on them.
"The manager wont let anyone take their foot off the gas.
"The lads are great in the changing room and everybody is looking to take Albion as far as we can this season."
