Brunt targets bounce-back against Swansea

No.11 keen to put Chelsea defeat behind him

CHRIS Brunt reckons two home fixtures in a week provides Albion with the perfect opportunity to put the narrow defeat to Chelsea well and truly behind them.

The Blues recorded a 1-0 victory on Sunday lunchtime - a result which sent them back to the top of the Premier League and also ended the Baggies' four-game unbeaten run.

However, Brunt and his team-mates will have the chance to recapture their impressive recent form when both Swansea and Manchester United visit The Hawthorns on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

The Northern Ireland international admits defeat at Stamford Bridge was hard to take, but says the squad can quickly start to focus on the midweek clash with the Swans.

He said: “It’s a difficult one to take with their goal coming late on.

“We have a big game coming up on Wednesday night so it’s important we get that defeat out of our system and look forward to the next game.

“The fact we lost a game 1-0 to Chelsea and we are disappointed shows what a good place we are in at the minute.

“Stamford Bridge is always a really difficult place to come but we had a couple of decent early chances and on another day we might have taken them.

“We knew we were going to have to work hard because they are in a good place at the moment, but I think we managed to keep them quiet for the majority of the game.

“There’s two home games coming up now that we have to be looking to take points out of.

“Swansea had a good result at the weekend and they will be coming to us with confidence.

“We’ve been on a good run of form lately and we will be trying to bounce back when Wednesday night comes around.”
