Albion U13s win prestigious Truce tournament

Future is bright for Baggies youngsters

A huge ‘well done’ to our Baggies boys after their super performance at the prestigious Premier League Truce tournament in Belgium.

Albion Under-13s came out on top in this annual gathering, which salutes the famous Christmas Day Truce match during the First World War, involving some of Europe’s top clubs.

Having previously qualified in the UK, our boys delivered a memorable performance with four victories and a draw at the finals.

They scored 15 goals and conceded just twice during a tournament which was climaxed by their 3-0 defeat of Metz in the final.

Earlier, they drew with Chelsea (1-1) and then beat Hertha Berlin (2-1) and Valenciennes (6-0) to set up a semi-final which saw Albion defeat Fulham 2-0.

The Baggies were led by an eight-goal personal haul from Rico Richards and three each from Reyes Cleary and Jack Powell.

Congratulations go to coaches Paul Gardiner and James McPike who led this squad to their victory: Timmy Mungall  Ronnie Hollingshead (GKs); Ben Kaninda, Leon Machisa,  Filimon Asfha, Hisham Chiha, Reyes Cleary, Mackenzie Lamb, Chisom Afoka, George Skelton, Reece Hall, Fenton Heard, Samuel Okoka, Jack Powell, Rico Richards.
