LOAN WATCH: Six players involved on opening day

Roberts makes Oxford United debut

SIX Albion players were in action for their new clubs on the opening day of the English Football League and non-league seasons.

Striker Tyler Roberts came on in the 64th minute to make his debut for Oxford United who are managed by former Baggies assistant head coach Michael Appleton.

The U’s started life in League One with a 1-1 draw against Chesterfield at the Kassam Stadium.

Fellow forward Tahvon Campbell also appeared off the bench on the opening weekend, coming on in the 79th minute for Yeovil Town who comfortably saw off Notts County 2-0 at Huish Park.

Defender Callam Jones made his Football League debut for Accrington Stanley who secured a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

The 20-year-old came on for Janoi Donacien in the 78th minute at the Wham Stadium.

Kyle Howkins, another 20-year-old defender, replaced Adam Chapman after 67 minutes as his Mansfield side earned a 3-2 win over Newport County.

Shaun Donnellan was not involved for Stevenage who opened up with a 2-1 home defeat to Crewe.

Winger Chay Scrivens played the final 15 minutes for Torquay United in their 2-0 loss at Macclesfield in the Vanarama National League while goalkeeper Ethan Ross got 90 minutes under his belt for Worcester City who drew 2-2 at home to Harrogate in the Vanarama National League North.
