Galloway eager to impress for Albion

Loan signing in contention for debut at Northampton tonight

NEW loan signing Brendan Galloway is determined to grasp the opportunity he has been given at Albion.

The highly-rated left-back arrived on loan from Everton on Monday on a deal which runs until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Galloway is in contention to make his Baggies debut in tonight's EFL Cup Round 2 tie at Northampton Town (ko 7.45pm).

And the 20-year-old is excited to get going.

"I can’t wait to get started and put the shirt on," he said.

"I'm a left-back who tries to get forward and back as much as possible during the game, getting one-v-one defending and really trying to block out wingers during the match.

"Also, clean sheets are really important to me.

"I work my hardest for the team, which is important."

Galloway added: "I can play along the backline, centre-back and left-back, so I'm quite versatile but obviously you always want to have one position and make that yours throughout the season.

"The most important thing is to get on the pitch, get the shirt on and work hard for the team. I can't wait to get started."

Galloway was handed his Premier League debut for Everton in May 2015 when he started a 2-1 win away at West Ham United.

But it was last season in which he firmly made his first-team breakthrough – starting 14 Premier League matches as he went on to impress in 19 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.

And the defender is keen to get plenty more top-flight matches under his belt at The Hawthorns.

"Playing in the Premier League last season was really good and an experience that I really enjoyed, that's what I want to aim for," he added.

"Every boy's dream is to play in the Premier League and so to have this opportunity again is a massive thing for me."
