Sporting Club Albion win first ever trophy

Ladies lift County Cup

SPORTING Club Albion won their first ever piece of silverware on Thursday night – lifting the County Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Coventry United.

The ladies held their nerve from 12-yards to win 3-1 on spot-kicks after a tight 90 minutes ended goalless at Leamington FC’s New Windmill Ground.

Karen Clough and Summer Holmes both converted their penalties while ‘keeper Rebecca Thomas made two outstanding saves to leave Sporting Club Albion on the brink of success.

Eleanor Clarke then stepped up and blasted home the winning spot-kick to spark wild scenes of celebration.

Team Manager Graham Abercrombie said: “It’s brilliant to have won the cup. It was a fantastic evening for all involved with Sporting Club Albion.”

Congratulations, ladies!
