Training boost for Baggies

Full complement of players to train today

ALBION are today set to enjoy their first full training session of the season as they begin fine-tuning plans for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League clash at Tottenham (ko 1.30pm).

Head coach Alan Irvine confirmed his 25-strong first-team group will all be involved on the training pitch in the build-up to the White Hart Lane clash.

The Baggies travel to north London seeking their first Premier League win of the 2014/15 campaign.

And Irvine has welcomed an empty treatment room for the first time under his tenure, although a handful of his squad – largely the later arrivals during the summer transfer window - are still putting in extra fitness work to get 100% up to speed.

Irvine said: “For the first time, we will have all 25 training and that is great news for us.

“It means we’re getting closer now to having the full range of options open to us.

“It’s important that everyone is aware there’s a difference between not being injured and being fit to play.

“But it’s still fantastic news to know that we don’t now have to make decisions based on who we think is the most ready to play.

“Some players are still needing to do ‘top up’ sessions after the group training sessions because they are still some way behind the rest of the squad.

“Their levels of fitness need to improve still.

“But it’s very encouraging that the treatment room is empty for the first time since I arrived.”
