Welcome to 'Bomber Week'

Stay tuned to Albion's official channels all this week

Welcome to 'Bomber Week' - our celebration of a footballer and a man this club will forever be proud to call one of its own.

Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown established footballing landmarks at Albion which will never be broken – 720 appearances and 279 goals.

Those stats, the greatest by any player in the club’s history, were compiled by a footballer who spent only three of his 17 years as a professional outside the top flight.

Yes, they are the cold, hard numbers that confirm – as England manager Roy Hodgson reminds us today – that one of the game’s genuine "greats" is about to be fittingly honoured by those who marvelled at his deeds.

This Thursday, at around 2pm, Brown himself will unveil the statue the club commissioned to immortalise his extraordinary career.

He is the first Albion player to be accorded such an honour and to mark this momentous occasion we shall be spending the week unashamedly wallowing in Bomber’s achievements with some special content here on www.wba.co.uk.

Beginning today is the first of four instalments - The Tony Brown story - which we will roll out in the build-up to Thursday’s event, reliving this much-loved player’s life and career.

Look out, also, for some wonderful tributes from his old team-mates, beginning today with some great memories from Cyrille Regis.

We’ve got today’s Albion stars paying their own tributes as well as Bomber’s family giving us an insight in to what it was like living with a legend.

There’s plenty more and, most important of all, tomorrow we shall tell YOU how to get involved and pay your own tributes to the great man.

This is a very special week for the club but we want to make it even more special for Tony Brown. Baggies fans all over the world know he deserves that. We hope you will help us.

And now, watch below the first part of our exclusive video sharing the life story of an Albion great - ladies and gentlemen, we give you Tony 'Bomber' Brown.
