Duo score in friendly victory at Leicester
SILVESTRE Varela and Brown Ideye were both on target as Albion triumphed 2-0 at Leicester in a behind-closed-doors friendly this afternoon.
Winger Varela, stepping up his fitness after minor hernia surgery, coolly slotted home the opener at Belvoir Drive having been put through by Sebastian Blanco just before the half-hour mark.
Ideye, who also hit the woodwork twice, then wrapped up victory in the 72nd minute.
The striker brought down Tom Smart's far-post cross and neatly turned his marker before converting home, with Samir Nabi making sure the ball crossed the line.
It proved a worthwhile fitness exercise for the Baggies, with a handful of first-team players getting valuable match action under their belts alongside their Under-21 team-mates.
Albion: Myhill (Daniels 45'), Atkinson, Cleet, Howkins, Smart, Varela, A Nabi, S Nabi (Birch 77'), Blanco (Wedderburn 87'), Samaras, Ideye.
