James Shan happy to have game before Derby and Rugby fixtures
JAMES Shan’s Under-21 side will prepare for upcoming cup fixtures against Derby County and Rugby Town, with a friendly at home to SPFL side Hamilton Academical tomorrow.
Albion’s youngsters take on The Rams at The Hawthorns in the Barclays U21 Premier League Cup on Thursday, November 20 (2pm ko), and then travel to Southern League Division One Central side Rugby Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, November 25 (7.45pm ko).
The fixture against The Accies prevents a lengthy gap between fixtures for the Under-21s, with Shan happy to have a game ahead of the cup clashes.
“The game was arranged to make sure that there wasn’t a gap in fixtures,” said Shan.
“Sometimes in our league you can go two or three weeks before a game.
“The game will keep the boys ticking over, and will also allow playing time for some of the boys who haven’t been involved as much as they would have liked.
“With the matches coming up against Derby and Rugby, it is nice to have a run out before then, and also means we don’t have to go two weeks without a game.”
