Olsson due to undergo foot surgery

Albion defender prepares for operation

JONAS Olsson will be sidelined until well into the New Year as he prepares for a procedure on his foot.

The Baggies centre-half will go under the knife in Portugal on Friday.

The operation will involve a piece of bone being removed from the back of his left foot - with the intention of relieving pressure on his Achilles.

The surgery will be performed by top Dutch orthopedic surgeon Professor Niek Van Dijk.

Olsson said: "I have been struggling with this on and off for some time and I've come to the point where it feels like surgery would help it.

"The recovery time is short so I hope to be back 100 per cent."

Meanwhile, Sebastien Pocognoli returned to full training yesterday following his recent hamstring injury.
