On-loan midfielder helps fire Derby into play-off final
GEORGE Thorne is Wembley bound after scoring Derby’s third goal in their resounding 4-1 Championship play-off semi-final second leg win over Brighton yesterday evening.
The Baggies loan star volleyed home from 25 yards as the Rams brushed aside the Seagulls 6-2 on aggregate.
Thorne can now look forward to facing either QPR or Wigan, who head into the second-leg of their semi-final tonight with the tie goalless, in the final at Wembley on Saturday, May 24 (ko 3pm).
The 21-year-old Baggies Academy product only returned from cruciate ligament damage in September.
He was buoyed by signing a new-and-improved three-and-a-half-year Albion deal on January 30 – making the temporary switch to the iPro Stadium the same day.
