Club to hold minute's applause before Saturday's game
ALBION will pay a full tribute to former right-back Stan Rickaby at Saturday’s Barclays Premier League home date with Manchester United (ko 12.45pm).
The England international recently passed away, aged 89, and the club will honour him with a minute’s applause shortly before kick-off.
Albion’s players will also wear black armbands while Saturday’s matchday programme will feature an in-depth look back at Stan’s memorable five-year spell at the club.
He made 205 appearances, scoring twice, and was a key part of Albion’s ‘Team of the Century’ of 1953/54.
Stan collected a 1954 FA Cup-winners’ medal after playing in every round before cruelly missing out on the final through injury.
He emigrated to Australia in 1969 where he lived until his death.
