Amalfitano searching for strong finish

Winger speaks ahead of United clash (FREE VIDEO)

MORGAN Amalfitano insists there is more to come from him as tomorrow’s game with Manchester United (ko 12.45pm) brings back memories of his most notable moment in an Albion shirt.

The France international admits it has been a tough first season for him in English football and says he has learnt a lot.

He is now hoping to finish the campaign in style by hitting the heights of his man-of-the-match performance in September’s 2-1 Old Trafford win, in which he opened the scoring with a goal-of-the-season contender.

“As I said from the start it is one of the best leagues,” said Amalfitano, speaking through team-mate turned translator Saido Berahino.

“I’m enjoying it, it’s a hard, tough league as well, and I’m learning a lot from it.

“I will judge my performance this season when it is over.

“There are two months left, which are very important for the football club.

“I’m going to do my best for the club and then at the end of the season I’ll sit back and reflect.

“It’s a long season and form can dip.

“The season’s not finished yet and I want to finish the season as strong as possible for me and the team.”

The winger, who celebrates his 29th birthday this month, also hopes the 17th-placed Baggies can quickly get back to the form they showed against United at the beginning of the season.

“The most important thing that day was the way the team played as a collective, which allowed individual players to come out and perform to such high standards,” he added.

“We shouldn’t forget that – the way the team played is what got us the result – and it would be good if we can put in the same performance at home and ensure we get the result.”
