Baggies striker glad to be back in action
VICTOR Anichebe has called for more of the same from James Morrison after seeing him pull the strings in last night’s comeback to draw 1-1 with Everton.
The former Toffees striker came on at half-time against his former club and enjoyed linking up with the Scotland midfielder.
It was Morrison’s 12th Barclays Premier League start of the campaign and he supplied the cross for Diego Lugano’s equaliser before claiming the Baggies’ man-of-the-match honours.
“I thought in the second half we played really well,” said Anichebe.
“We fought really well and the crowd got behind us.
“They roared us on and I thought we played really good football as well.
“I thought James Morrison was outstanding.
“He played some great forward passes and passes to me.
“I told him at the end of the game that’s what we need all the time.
“I thought it was a great team performance.”
It was Anichebe’s first appearance in more than six weeks after a niggling groin problem.
And, with one strike to his name this term, he admits he must quickly add to his goal tally to establish himself in Pepe Mel’s Albion XI.
“You always need goals,” he added.
“I need to step up, as does everyone.
“Diego scored a crucial goal and we need everyone to pull together and help the team.”
