Vydra eyeing Anichebe partnership

Striker pleased to get on the scoresheet

MATEJ Vydra would relish the chance to regularly partner Victor Anichebe up front in a bid to fire Albion to Barclays Premier League safety.

The 21-year-old combined with Anichebe to fire a dramatic late equaliser against bottom-of-the-league Fulham on Saturday.

And Vydra hopes to now cement himself a place in Pepe Mel's starting XI.

“If me and Victor play together that is better for me because he is strong and I am quick," said Vydra.

“It is good for me but it's the coach’s call.

“For me it is always better if I play with a strong striker.

"I’m happy about the goal.

“Every striker needs to score goals and it was important for me.

“Every player wants to play in the first XI but I went on and made a difference.

“Before the game we felt we needed three points, but we only got one.

“But if we’d lost to Fulham and they’d taken three points they would have been closer to us, so in that way it’s a good point."
