Mel: We face 13 cup finals

Head coach issues rallying cry

PEPE Mel says his team face ‘13 cup finals’ as they bid to save their season after slipping into the bottom three.

The Baggies’ 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace means they now sit 18th in the table after 25 games, one point off safety – but also just three adrift of 13th spot.

And Mel has called for a response from his troops, starting at home to table-toppers Chelsea on Tuesday (ko 8pm).

“Now we have 13 very important games to ensure West Brom are in the Premier League,” said the Albion head coach.

“The first thing is to try and win the game on Tuesday, and if we want to stay in this league we must play like we did in the second half against Liverpool last weekend and the second half today.

“We have 13 cup finals and 13 battles and we must win as many as we can – and the players must come with me in this battle.”
