Boss gives Olsson injury timeframe

And Mel explains Morrison absence

JONAS Olsson has been ruled out of Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace (ko 3pm) after limping off in the 41st minute of today’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

The Sweden centre-half suffered a hamstring injury – but Pepe Mel hopes he will be fit in time for the home clash with Chelsea three days later (ko 8pm).

Diego Lugano replaced Olsson with the Baggies 1-0 down and the Uruguay captain will now be hoping to hold onto his place in the side after helping keep the Reds at bay.

“I think Jonas will miss the next game at Palace but it is possible he’ll be available to play against Chelsea,” said Mel, who was forced to start today's game without injured midfielder James Morrison (calf).

“Morrison is injured too so this is a bad day.

“Yes Diego did well and it is important because it is not about 11 players, it is about 24/25 players.”

Nicolas Anelka (knee) and Stephane Sessegnon (groin) are also currently sidelined.
